People on UAE visit visas can extend their stay for another month without the need to Exit the UAE anymore. This can be done by paying the fee for the visa extension (570 AED).
A report from Khaleej Times states that the UAE has revoked the the one-month gap condition for renewing visit visas. Brigadier Dr Rashid Sultan, a spokesperson for the UAE Ministry of Interior, said the ministry was re-implementing the decision No 337 of the year 2004 to enable all those who have visit visas to get an extension.
The previous set-up was that the person who has an expired visit visa, needs to stay outside the country for at least one month before they can go back to the UAE for another visit visa.
In order for the visa extension to be implemented, all applicants should submit their forms before the expiry date of their current visas. The new rule is applicable for all entry permits. These permits would include transit visas, student visas, residence visas, short-term (one month) and long-term visit (90 days) visas, and visas for medical treatment.
We have contacted one of the reps of Ministry of Interior to verify it and they mentioned that indeed this is the new process:
People on such visas will no longer need to exit the country to get an extension of their stay here. They can now do it by paying Dh570 and stay for a month more without exiting the country
This is good news for those whose visas are about to expire. We now have the option to extend our entry permits for another 30 days. For more information, we advise to contact the Ministry of Interior as the rules may change without prior notice. Website of MOI is – moi.gov.ae
