Fee Waiver Must Be Requested During ID Application
The waiver is not a separate process done after everything is completed. It is linked to either the issuance of a new Emirates ID or the renewal of an existing ID card.
Applicants must first submit their ID card application through an approved service channel. After that, they need to review the application form and correct any retrieved information if needed.
If the system cannot retrieve some data through linked records, the applicant may be asked to attach supporting documents.
How the Digital Request Works
The process has six main steps.
First, the applicant submits the request through the chosen channel for new ID issuance or renewal.
Second, the applicant reviews the application form and updates any information that needs correction.
Third, supporting documents must be attached if the required data is not retrieved automatically.
Fourth, the applicant submits the exemption request.
Fifth, the applicant waits for the response. The request may be accepted, rejected, or returned for amendment.
Sixth, the applicant completes the ID card application process.

Where Residents Can Access the Service
The service may be accessed through smart and physical channels.
Available channels listed include the DEWA Smart App, DEWA Smart Services Website, and several Customer Happiness Centers, including locations in Khalifa, Ajman, Sharjah, Al Ghazal, Al Rashidiya, Ras Al Khaimah, Al Barsha, Al Jazeera, Al Ain, and Fujairah.
Residents should check the channel that is most convenient for them before starting the process.
Who May Qualify for the Waiver
The listed category includes citizens who did not have an ID before obtaining nationality and family data, where ID registration was delayed because of them.
Another listed case covers anyone whose ID expired while their passport was seized because of legal cases. In this case, proof from the competent authority must be provided.
The required document is proof that supports the exemption request based on the stated terms and conditions.
Important Reminder
Applicants should not assume that all late fees can be waived. The request depends on the approved exemption decisions and the documents provided.
Before submitting, residents should prepare proof of the reason for delay, review all personal details carefully, and wait for the official response before completing the ID card application.
