Every year, the Global Teacher Prize Awards recognizes the best teachers from around the world, granting a USD 1 million prize to the most outstanding educator. Every year, celebrities are invited to attend and perform… and this year’s event features Hugh Jackman! Yay!
The Greatest Showman himself is now here in the UAE to attend the awards, along with Rita Ora, Little Mix, and Liam Payne. Jackman is the latest Hollywood star to visit the country, joining the likes of Will Smith, Ryan Reynolds, and just recently, Pierce Brosnan, who was shooting a film.
Jackman to Perform at Global Teacher Prize Awards
Aside from preparing for the Global Teacher Prize Awards, Jackman is clearly having a great time in the UAE, as shown in this video where he admires Summer the falcon — describing the bird as “gorgeous” and captioning his post as an “incredible evening in the Dubai desert:”

In another video, the Wolverine star shares: “We’re in Dubai, in the Empty Quarter. We’re rehearsing really hard, getting ready for the show, but as we say in Australia, you’ve got to work hard but you’ve also got to play hard too, so we are doing a little dune buggying.”

Last month, Jackman was tapped to announce the top 10 finalists for this year’s Global Teacher Prize Awards. In the video, he described teachers as the “real superheroes.”
“When I was a kid, there were lots of superheroes that I wanted to be,” he shared. “But I can tell you right now, from where I stand, with all my experience, the real superheroes are teachers — they’re the ones that change the world.”
“Since the launch of the Global Teacher Prize in Dubai just five years ago, it has gone on to inspire over 30 national teacher prizes, unearthing thousands of stories of heroes that have transformed young people’s lives,” he stated.
The Global Teacher Prize is awarded by the Varkey Foundation, under the patronage of the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. It receives thousands of nominations every year.
