DUBAI: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has opened the Mall of the Emirates Smart Bus Station, the emirate’s first smart bus station and a new step in making public transport easier, faster, and more connected.
The station is directly linked to Mall of the Emirates Metro Station and serves 11 bus routes, making it useful for residents, workers, shoppers, and tourists moving around key areas of Dubai.
For many daily commuters, this means a more organized place to wait, check trip updates, and transfer between buses, Metro, and taxis.

Real-Time Travel Details in One Place
One of the station’s main features is its real-time information display. Passengers can view bus arrival times, station maps, Metro train arrival times, taxi stand details, and nearby landmarks.
This can help commuters plan their routes before leaving the station, instead of guessing when the next bus or train will arrive.
The station also has a dedicated screen showing upcoming bus arrivals and bus occupancy levels. This feature can help passengers decide whether to board the next bus or wait for a less crowded one.
24/7 Digital Help Without Long Queues
The smart station offers 24/7 interactive digital services to reduce waiting time and improve the customer experience.
A smart kiosk provides services such as journey planning, customer enquiries, Lost and Found support, and direct access to the RTA Call Centre. This gives passengers a faster way to get help without needing to visit a separate service center.
The station also includes modern ticket purchase and digital top-up machines, making it easier for passengers to manage their travel needs on-site.
AI Cameras, Solar Power, and Driver Rest Area
For safety and operations, the station uses AI-powered cameras for crowd monitoring and violation detection. These cameras help support smoother station management and safer use of facilities.
The station also includes solar panels to generate power and smart sensors to monitor air quality. These features support Dubai’s wider sustainability goals.
The station covers around 147 square metres and can accommodate up to 20 customers at a time. It also includes a rest area for drivers, giving the station a more complete setup for both passengers and transport workers.
