DUBAI: Dubai Police returned a lost bag containing $20,000, 150 grams of gold, mobile phones, other currencies, and personal documents to an Arab traveler at Dubai International Airport Terminal 1.
The General Department of Airport Security located the woman and handed back the bag after completing the required legal procedures and checks.

A Black Bag Found in an Open Area
Colonel Abdullah Faisal Al Dosari, Director of the Terminal 1 Security Department, said an employee found the black bag in an open area at the terminal.
When the bag was inspected, authorities found valuable items inside. These included cash worth $20,000, 150 grams of gold, mobile phones from different brands, other currencies, and personal documents.
The documents helped identify the owner. However, Dubai Police still had to locate her, as no lost property report had been filed for a bag matching the description.
Why Finding the Traveler Was Not Simple
Col. Al Dosari said a team had to trace the traveller’s movements inside the airport.
The operations room was notified, and the needed steps were taken to find the owner. Authorities later learned that the traveller was about to leave the UAE for Saudi Arabia.
The traveller was reportedly very worried after losing the bag. She did not know what steps to take and feared she might miss her flight.
Bag Returned After Legal Checks
Dubai Police handed the bag back after verifying the traveller’s identity and completing the necessary legal process.
Authorities also checked that she had the required permits and documents for the valuables in the bag.
The traveller expressed joy and gratitude after receiving her belongings. She thanked Dubai Police for their efforts and for helping return lost property to travellers.
Reminder for Passengers at the Airport
For travellers, especially OFWs and expats passing through busy terminals, the incident is a reminder to keep bags, documents, cash, and valuables within sight at all times.
Passengers should also report lost items as soon as possible to airport staff or Dubai Police. Filing a report can help authorities match the lost item with the rightful owner faster.
