DUBAI: Private schools, nurseries, and higher education institutions in Dubai will move to remote learning from Tuesday, May 5, to Friday, May 8, 2026, according to the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, or KHDA.
The decision covers all private educational institutions in the emirate. This means students will attend classes from home during the announced period.
KHDA said schools have been instructed to activate their remote learning plans and make sure teaching and administrative work continue.

Online Classes for Four School Days
The remote learning period will run for four days, from May 5 to 8.
During this time, students are expected to follow their school’s online class schedule. Parents should wait for direct instructions from their child’s school, nursery, college, or university.
These instructions may include class links, attendance rules, learning platforms, homework details, and any changes to school timings.
Nurseries and Universities Included
The shift does not apply only to regular private schools. It also includes private nurseries and higher education institutions in Dubai.
This is important for families with younger children, as nursery operations may have different arrangements from school classes. Parents should check official messages from the institution before making plans.
For college and university students, remote learning may also include online lectures, virtual submissions, and digital attendance tracking.
Why the Move Was Announced
The move is part of precautionary efforts to protect the wellbeing of students, teachers, school staff, and the wider community.
The announcement also follows a nationwide directive from the Ministry of Education. Under the directive, students, teachers, and administrative staff across nurseries and public and private schools will move to remote learning during the same period.
Authorities said the goal is to maintain safety while allowing learning to continue.
KHDA: School Operations Must Continue
Schools were told to ensure continuity of teaching and administrative operations.
This means education services should not fully stop. Instead, schools are expected to move lessons, communication, and school-related support online where possible.
Parents may still need to contact school offices for concerns about attendance, exams, fees, transport, or learning support.
What Parents Should Do Now
Parents in Dubai should check official school communication channels, including email, school apps, SMS alerts, and parent groups managed by the school.
Students should prepare their devices, internet connection, notebooks, and login details before classes begin.
Authorities will reassess the situation on Friday, May 8, 2026. Distance learning may be extended if required, so families should continue watching for official updates from KHDA, the Ministry of Education, and their school.
