PASAY CITY, Philippines — May 31, 2026: A 48-year-old Filipino overseas worker was arrested at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 on Saturday after authorities flagged him upon arrival from Muscat, Oman.
The Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP AVSEGROUP), NAIA Police Station 1, working alongside the Bureau of Immigration, took the Iloilo City resident into custody for an active warrant of arrest linked to a violation of Republic Act No. 9262, the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004.
What Happened
The subject was identified through an Alert List Order flagging his derogatory record in the airport security database. A follow-up check confirmed a standing warrant of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court in Iloilo City on September 17, 2025.
The charge falls under Section 5(i) of R.A. 9262, which covers psychological violence against women and children. Recommended bail was set at Php72,000.
How the Arrest Was Carried Out
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) NCR Field Unit–Southern Metro Manila District Field Unit assisted in serving the warrant. Officers informed the suspect of the charge against him and his constitutional rights in a language he understood.
Standard procedures were observed throughout, including the use of an Alternative Recording Device during the warrant service.
What Comes Next
The arrested individual has been transferred to CIDG NCRFU–Southern Metro Manila District Field Unit custody for further legal proceedings.
PNP AVSEGROUP Director PBGEN Dionisio B. Bartolome Jr. credited the result to close inter-agency cooperation. “This operation reflects the strong coordination between agencies and the heightened vigilance of our airport security in ensuring that individuals with outstanding warrants are properly identified and acted upon,” he said.
