DUBAI: Dubai Police has urged motorists to slow down and give way to pedestrians after a girl suffered serious injuries in a collision involving a bicycle and a vehicle in Al Yalayis 1, Mira Community.
The warning is a reminder to all drivers in Dubai, including expats and daily commuters, that pedestrian safety is not optional. Drivers must allow people to cross safely, especially in marked pedestrian crossing areas.

Girl Taken to Hospital After Impact
According to Dubai Police, the collision happened after the driver failed to give priority near a pedestrian crossing area.
The impact left the girl with severe injuries. She was immediately taken to hospital for the needed treatment.
Traffic accident experts later went to the scene to inspect the area and gather evidence. Their work will help identify the causes of the collision. Traffic patrols also secured the area, managed traffic flow, and helped emergency and rescue teams reach the site.
AED500 Fine and Six Black Points
Brigadier Jumaa bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, said pedestrian safety remains one of the force’s strategic priorities.
He reminded motorists that failing to give pedestrians priority at designated crossing areas is a traffic violation.

Under Article 69 of the Federal Traffic Law, drivers may face:
• AED500 fine
• Six black points
For drivers, this means they should treat pedestrian crossings as priority zones, not as optional spaces to pass through quickly.
Residential Roads Need Extra Care
Dubai Police also urged drivers to be more careful in residential communities, industrial zones, and roads near pedestrian crossings.
These areas often have children, cyclists, delivery riders, workers, and residents moving across the road. A quick turn, one distracted moment, or a small speed increase can lead to serious harm.
Brigadier Bin Suwaidan called on motorists to reduce speed, stay alert, and avoid distractions while driving.
