IN PHOTOS: HH Sheikh Hamdan Leads 193,000 Participants in Dubai Run 2022

The fourth edition of the Dubai Run took place on Sunday, November 20, 2022. His Highness. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum led 193,000 people of all ages and abilities in the run, which is free for anyone who wants to participate. The event is one of the biggest available.

Last year, there were 143,000 participants, this 2022, there were over 193,000 participants. This is an increase of 50,000 participants who all wanted to join His Highness Sheikh Hamdan in this massive event.

The Dubai Run is open to everyone who wants to take part, with the emphasis being on health and wellness. Participants can choose their own route, whether it be running along the coast or through downtown Dubai.

Dubai has worked hard to become not only the most active city but also a happier and healthier place by providing its citizens and residents with free access to fitness events and other activities that promote wellness.

2021 Dubai Run Photos

This year 2021, the Dubai Run took place on November 26 – Friday and over 146,000 people participated! This is a staggering number of participants given that the first Dubai Run (in 2019) had about 70,000 joiners. Now it’s more than double the number.

In his Instagram and social media posts, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, shared a clip of him running with Dubai residents.

This is a really welcome sight as this proves that Dubai is really open. Last 2020, the Dubai Run, along with many Dubai events, was reorganized due to the pandemic.

2019 Dubai Run Photos with Crown Prince of Dubai

An amazing display of community, solidarity and excitement was evident when over 70,000 people participated in the Dubai Run last November 8, 2019. This was a historic event as this is the first occasion where the Sheikh Zayed Road was closed and made into a race track as part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge 2019.

Residents and visitors of all ages and abilities numbering 70,000 came together to make history and take part in the inaugural Dubai Run.

Crown Prince of Dubai, leads first Dubai Run on Sheikh Zayed Road featuring 70,000 participants

Spearheaded by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, the event featured two courses to ensure it is highly inclusive – a 5km and 10km route. The young and old, families and People of Determination from all nationalities participated in the free one-of-a-kind run for the city. Starting from the Dubai World Trade Centre, both routes saw a diverse group of runners taking to the streets surrounding some of Dubai’s most iconic landmarks including Burj Khalifa, Dubai Opera, The Dubai Mall and Emirates Towers.

Commenting on the event, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said: “Today marks a milestone in our mission to make Dubai the most active city in the world – together as one society. I commend the enthusiasm and energy of our people and I am proud of how the people of Dubai – across ages, nationalities and abilities – have come together to create such an inspiring event. Congratulations to all those who accepted the challenge. I am confident that you will encourage even more to join over the coming days and make DFC 2019 our most successful edition yet.”

Dubai Run 30X30 on Sheikh Zayed Road was presented by DEWA, in association with ARN, Dubai Police, Dubai World Trade Centre, Etisalat and RTA. Organised by Dubai Tourism and Dubai Sports Council, the Dubai Run is expected to become an annual fixture on the Dubai Fitness Challenge calendar.
