Dh3B Beach Plan: Soon, Enjoy a Bigger, Better Dubai Coastline

DUBAI: Dubai is set to transform its coastline under a major Dh3 billion redevelopment plan that will upgrade public beaches, add new attractions, and increase capacity for residents and tourists.

Led by Dubai Municipality, the project aims to make Dubai one of the world’s best cities to live in by 2040, with better public spaces and improved coastal experiences.

Where the beach upgrades will happen

The development will cover several popular beachfront areas across Dubai, including:

  • Al Mamzar
  • Jumeirah (phases 1 to 3)
  • Umm Suqeim
  • Jebel Ali

These locations will undergo phased upgrades until 2030, focusing on accessibility, safety, and leisure.

Bigger space, more visitors expected

Once completed, the plan will increase beach capacity by up to 170 percent. This means more space for families, tourists, and residents to enjoy Dubai’s coastline without overcrowding.

Some areas are expected to welcome millions of visitors every year, showing strong demand for public beach access.

Al Mamzar project to lead the transformation

One of the biggest developments is the Al Mamzar Beaches project, with a budget of Dh500 million.

Key highlights include:

  • A 4 million square foot beachfront area
  • Capacity for up to 7 million visitors annually
  • Over 35 leisure and service facilities

New features will include a floating walkway, waterfront dining, and shaded spaces for comfort.

First women-only night beach in Dubai

A major highlight of the project is the introduction of Dubai’s first public women-only beach with night swimming.

This area will offer:

  • A fully private and secure environment
  • Access for evening swimming
  • Facilities designed for all-day use

This aims to provide a safe and comfortable space for women and families.

Umm Suqeim beach to get modern upgrades

Another key site, Umm Suqeim Beach, will also be redeveloped with a Dh500 million investment.

Planned upgrades include:

  • A 3.1-kilometer improved coastline
  • A 38-meter observation tower
  • Better public access and facilities

The project will also include coastal protection features to address rising sea levels.
