As part of Senator Manny Pacquiao’s weekend basketball event held in Dubai, the Filipino boxing icon was able to get the chance to visit and see for himself how the city’s Smart Police Station (SPS) operates, having been toured by law enforcement officials in one of the 5 SPS posts.

The Dubai SPS is the first smart police station that needs no interaction with any human. It offers 27 smart key services with 6 different languages such as reporting crimes and traffic incidents to other community services.

The SPS, which operates 24/7, is designed to require no human interaction and functions in the same way an automated teller machine does. But instead of an ATM card, a customer needs to put in an Emirates ID card in the device to start the transaction.

Since its establishment two years ago, fraud and forgery top the cases solved through the Dubai Smart Police Stations (SPS) which have handled and resolved 41,000 cases to date.

In Dubai alone, there are five SPS in place so far with one each in The Palm Jumeirah, Arabian Ranches, Muraqqabat Police Station, La Mer, and City Walk.

According to officials, eight more SPS’s are in the pipeline for the upcoming Expo 2020 Dubai.

To date, the SPS offers 27 smart key services with 6 different languages such as reporting crimes and traffic incidents to other community services. The SPS marks the future of policing around the world.

According to the Dubai Police website, the government envisions to establish this type of self-service stations, supported by smart and interactive technologies in many new areas and projects, within the Emirate of Dubai.

These will enable customers to complete their transactions, smartly, and without having to visit the traditional police stations or to wait in queues to complete their transactions.

Through these facilities, Dubai has gained a competitive edge over its neighboring countries in the region as well as in the global stage, setting a benchmark for policing and safety and security technology.
