The Dubai Fountain

In case you were wondering, the Dubai Fountain was designed by WET Design, which is based in California. Sounds familiar? Well, this is the same company that created the world-famous fountains at Bellagio Hotel Lake in Las Vegas!

The Dubai Fountain was constructed at a cost of AED 800 million, or around USD 218 million. As for the name, “Dubai Fountain” was chosen after a competition held by developer Emaar Properties. The fountain was “tested” in February 2009. Finally, in May 8, 2009 — the Dubai Fountain was officially inaugurated, together with the official opening ceremony of the Dubai Mall.

Dubai Fountain Show

As mentioned earlier, the Dubai Fountain is located on the Burj Khalifa Lake, right beside the Dubai Mall. Spanning an area equal to two football pitches, the fountain shoots up to 22,000 gallons of water at any given moment!

The fountain itself has a unique design — five circles of different sizes, and two arcs that are equipped with powerful water nozzles. With 6,600 lights, 50 coloured projectors, and water shooting up to 152.4 metres high… the Dubai Fountain Show is a splendid sight!

Of course, the fountain’s nightly light and water show would not be complete without music… So read on!
