MOHRE Launches New Virtual Platform for Job Hunting in UAE

According to Ayesha Mohammed Ahmed Belharfia, Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Affairs said that the new virtual labour market in its new edition is a tool that uses artificial intelligence to help all job seekers find opportunities announced by companies, as shared in a report by the Khaleej Times.

Furthermore, the integration of AI in recruitment will facilitate the process of matching between the requirements of jobs advertised, companies and job seekers files, which are created and uploaded on the platform. In so doing, it connects the parties concerned in an interactive way.

As per the 2018 Annual Economic Report, the total labour force in the UAE was 6.4 million in 2017.

The report also noted the following:

  • The labour force participation rate was about 92.8 per cent of the total male population aged 15 years and above.
  • The rate of participation in the female labour force was about 41.6 percent of the total female population.
  • The rate of employment was about 78.3 percent of the total population aged 15 years and above.
  • The overall unemployment rate declined to about 1.7 per cent of the total workforce in 2017.

Regarding this development, Belharfia pointed out that the virtual labour market initiative comes as a result of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation’s efforts to provide a reliable electronic recruitment service.

Using this website, all the applicant has to do is to access the site, create a professional profile and see the career opportunities available and thus apply for the appropriate job that matches their profile.

Moreover, they can also search the website on the competencies required from job seekers according to their profiles.

Using state-of-the-art technology, the website, Belharfia shared, allows companies to know the proportion between the files of job seekers and job requirements as well as track the professional development of file owners registered in the virtual labour market according to a smart system, which will accelerate the recruitment processes with high accuracy.
