As per the IIT, individuals and entities with outstanding achievements in promoting tolerance worldwide can be nominated for the first-of-its-kind award that celebrates the intrinsic value of tolerance, which seeks to highlight the importance of harmonious coexistence between cultures and communities.

According to Dr. Hamad Al Shaikh Ahmad Al Shaibani, Managing Director of the International Institute for Tolerance, “The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Tolerance Award is the first global initiative of its kind that seeks to promote the value of tolerance that the UAE holds dear, and widen the scope for openness and cross-cultural exchange. We announce today the start of competitions to pick winners for the first edition of the Award that includes a collective cash prize of AED 5 million,” Al Shaibani added.

He further noted that the award establishes a new global approach and precedent in promoting tolerance as a key value in uniting all human beings and shaping a more cohesive global society that is based on love and acceptance of the differences between people.

For his part, Major General Ahmed Khalfan Al Mansoori, Secretary-General of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Tolerance Award, shared: “This international award celebrates achievements that promote tolerance in the areas of human intellect, culture, and art, in addition to honoring individuals and entities across five categories: human thought, literary creativity, arts, youth projects, and new media.

The following are the conditions and criteria for the nominations as outlined by Al Mansoori:

  •  All nominations should be submitted during the approved dates specified by the Council. No contributions shall be accepted after the close of deadlines.
  • Applications for the Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Tolerance Award in the UAE should be submitted on a specific form available for this purpose on the website.
