Do you have a special date in mind… a birthday, graduation, or anniversary, perhaps? You can now customise your car plate based on this date, thanks to the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority’s (RTA) latest initiative: “Your Memorable Moments on Your Vehicle’s Plate.”
In an earlier article, we shared about how to upgrade your car plate based on the new design launched by RTA. This time around, we are going to discuss how you can personalise your vehicle’s number plate based on an important event or special occasion in your life.
Use Your Birthday as Your Car Plate Number
Last year, RTA launched the first phase of the initiative for S-coded plates and drivers born from 1981 to 1998. Beginning 2nd May 2018, however, the new phase of the program is available for V-coded plates, covering any date from 1967 to 2018.
What date can you request to display on your car plate? It could be your:
- Birthday
- Wedding Day
- Graduation Day
- Employment Day
… and many more!

Raising Customers’ Satisfaction & Happiness
“Launching this phase of ‘Your Memorable Moments on Your Vehicle’s Plate’ initiative follows the remarkable response generated by previous Codes,” stated Sultan Al Marzouqi, Director of Vehicles’ Licensing at RTA’s Licensing Agency.
“The initiative reflects the core role of the RTA in providing new and premium services to raise customers’ satisfaction and happiness through engaging them in selecting personalised and important numbers for their vehicle plates,” he explained.
“The V-Coded number plates will be issued, as available, bearing dates from 1967 to 2018,” he added. “The total cost of the plate is AED 1,670. Customers can source their number plates directly from Customer Happiness Centres all over Dubai, service providers, strategic partners, the RTA website, or the smart app, Dubai Drive.”
How to Apply for Customised Car Plate
To avail of a personalised car plate, simply:
#1 – Log into your RTA account.
#2 – Search for your desired “Special Moments Plate Number.”
#3 – Check the number’s availability form the list.
#4 – Pay the fee and the special plate number is yours!
NOTE: Before using your new car plate, you will be asked to return the old plate to RTA.
With the personalised car plate, remembering an important event in your life just became extra special! Of course, if you prefer to use public transportation, don’t worry as there are different modes of transport in Dubai. There’s the bus, metro, taxi, and even the “abra” or waterbus!
