Without a doubt, everybody in the UAE is looking forward to the Eid Al Fitr holidays, including all the fireworks and activities. Here in Dubai, there’s another event that Filipino expatriates are excited about… the 121st Philippine Independence Day celebrations! Yay!
This event is touted as the “biggest and most festive” annual gathering of Pinoys in the region. Leading the preparations is the Philippine Independence Day Organising Committee, in coordination with the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
Celebrate 121st Philippine Independence Day at DWTC
Just like last year’s festivities, the 121st Philippine Independence Day celebrations in Dubai include several exciting events, as follows:
#1 – Ystilo at Moda
Philippine fashion will be modeled in the runway this year, so watch out for some gorgeous creations by Filipino designers!
#2 – Pinoy Salamangka
Definitely for the kids and the young at heart, everybody will enjoy the funny antics and magic tricks of our Pinoy “payasos.”
#3 – Mga Sayaw Natin
The Philippines is known for its beautiful and lively cultural dances. Get ready to cheer for our dancers from different Philippine schools during this event!
#4 – Bandigmaan: Musika Para sa Kalayaan
This is literally a “battle of the bands,” Pinoy version. The competition was held earlier, on April 26, at Tantra Club in Fortune Karama Hotel. The winning group will perform at the Philippine Independence Day celebrations on June 14.
#5 – Himig at Awit
Of course, a Filipino celebration would not be complete without a singing contest! Watch as our kababayans try to out-belt one another in this year’s competition.
#6 – “Indak” Dance Showdown
Aside from cultural dances, Filipinos are famous for modern dance performances, as well. So why don’t you “indak” (sway) along with our talented Pinoy entertainers!
#7 – Piyestang Filipino
A grand and colorful parade, including fellow Pinoys from the Northern Emirates, will be part of this year’s celebrations.
Notably, Filipino celebrities Kyla and Zanjoe Marudo will also be joining this year’s festivities. So don’t forget to mark your calendars and join in the fun!
