Fahad Al Bloushi Proud of His Filipino Lineage

Rotunda Rumble 2 will feature popular and fast-rising boxers, including Thomas Patrick Ward (Britain), Vijender Singh (India), Rohan Date (Ireland), Abilkhaiyr Shegaliyev (Kazakhstan), Muhammad Waseem (Pakistan), and of course, Fahad Al Bloushi (UAE).

Al Bloushi’s mother, Winona Bicodo, hails from the province of Iloilo in the Philippines, ABS-CBN Sports reported. And while he is officially representing the Emirati nation at the event, he is also determined to make the Filipino community proud!

“I really worked hard for this, and I hope to make the Filipino community proud, too,” the young boxer declared.

Al Bloushi only began to take boxing seriously in 2015, before representing the UAE at the Indonesian Asian Games in 2016. Notably, he speaks of his Filipino lineage with pride.

“I’ve been to the Philippines four times.” he shared. “The first time I went was when I was eight years old. The last time was in 2015. I love it there, they are lovely people.”

Aside from Al Bloushi, two other UAE boxers will be taking part in Rotunda Rumble 2: fellow debutant Sultan Al Nuaimi and the popular Majid Al Naqbi. The event will be aired on ESPN+ and iFL TV, and the Filipino-Emirati boxer is eager to put his best foot forward!

“I’m excited to get in that ring,” he stated. “I’m thankful that I’m turning pro the right way which is in my hometown. I’m ready to put on a show.”

“My short term goal is to be the first Emirati to win a world title belt,” Al Bloushi added. “For the long term? To be undisputed in two weight divisions.”
